Pros
There are a lot of perks like free food and amenities on campus. Salary and benefits are good. I do think that Guardant is doing valuable work in the immunotherapy field.
Cons
There was a lot of dysfunction and animosity between departments, and also within the ones that I saw. I very quickly got used to my manager calling people stupid behind their backs anytime they asked a question. I'm sure I wasn't exempt from that. Water cooler talk was pretty much all gossip, and pretty mean-spirited at that. People would praise the bosses to their faces and immediately turn around and complain behind their backs. I also saw more than one nepotism hire while I was there, and it was pretty obvious they were treated differently. All of this is normal to some extent in the workplace, but it really felt turned up to 11 at Guardant. I usually try to stay positive, and I felt like that excluded me from participating in 90% of the conversations going on at work. I was very unhappy there.
