Pros

The prior executive management were promoted internally - rising through the ranks. They were old school thinkers, but in a good way. They valued the concept of being a mutual life company and were not in favor of being a public owned life company, even though it probably would have made them richer. Salaries were below market rate, but the pension plan was outstanding. People working there for the most part are very friendly.

Cons

Times have changed, with new executive management in place. Pension plan is no more for new staff. Other cost cutting in place. Layoffs (right-sizing). Restructuring of the sales staff. Shaking out the old timers. Offices at the home office kind of drab and worn-out.

Pros

Flexibility, excellent work life balance, casual environment, easy to use PTO. Benefits: health, dental, STD/ACC, vision, 401k are excellent

Cons

Pay is much below the standard for the position, raises and bonuses are minimal and hardly reflect the effort that is required to maintain positive metrics/meet goals. Case managers' responsibility is at a max and we often feel overwhelmed by the workload and expectations of management. Case managers are often responsible for tasks outside of the important things that have an effect of the claim
