Used to be a great place to work - Partner Business Operations Lead Guardian Life Employee Review

Pros

Working here used to be enjoyable, and they do offers a strong work-life balance (as long as you live within commuting distance of their offices) and supports employees with benefits like unlimited PTO, depending on your role (not entry level). There are ample opportunities for career advancement, and the organization is deeply committed to philanthropic initiatives.

Cons

Reorgs and layoffs are basically an annual tradition here—like clockwork, but with more stress. Many U.S.-based roles have been outsourced to the India office, even though the quality coming back is consistently questionable, and management refuses to acknowledge it. In the Group Benefits org, upper management seems to think “people count” is just a catchy slogan, not a principle to lead by. Decisions are made in a vacuum, often based on assumptions rather than actual conversations with employees. Listening apparently isn't part of the leadership toolkit. The pay is ok, middle of the road for mid level employees, team leads, individual contributors, but for those coming in at entry level, don't expect much.

Pros

Flexibility, excellent work life balance, casual environment, easy to use PTO. Benefits: health, dental, STD/ACC, vision, 401k are excellent

Cons

Pay is much below the standard for the position, raises and bonuses are minimal and hardly reflect the effort that is required to maintain positive metrics/meet goals. Case managers' responsibility is at a max and we often feel overwhelmed by the workload and expectations of management. Case managers are often responsible for tasks outside of the important things that have an effect of the claim
