Pros
great people up to the store management level, steep fall off at that point Discounts on gear gig leave
Cons
Literally no care for the individual here, this company has gone downhill. Fast. I worked there 10 years just for them to eliminate all full time positions along with health care in order to hit their impossible sales goals. I didn't even last a week in part time. Store managers are were completely useless, unless exploiting their workers. You would think you want people who are selling 100k of your merchandise a month for mere peanuts to be able to go to the doctor if they need to. Not here. The commission was weak, even at the top tier (Yes it's tiered you can make almost next to nothing too), which you needed to bend over backwards to please customers while maintaining the entire store. Management never made responsibility clear yet would be bothered if you didn't perform to their standards. You pretty much have to scam customers into buying an insurance even if they didn't need it. For example, you buy a harbringer speaker, it comes with a two year manufacturer warranty, you then have to sell a procoverage , guess who manufactured that speaker, ITS GUITAR CENTER. Then try to get them to get a store credit card. Imagine what a music store would be like to work at, that is not Guitar Center.
