An "ok" place to work if you need the job, but better options exist. - Technical Specialist II Gulfstream Employee Review

Pros

Stability and salary. It is difficult for the company to attract good people to the area, so they will do whatever they can to keep people, even those who don't perform or are difficult to deal with. Salary and benefits are good with 6% match on the 401k.

Cons

Area, morale, and some people. The area is depressing. Poor and uneducated people everywhere. If you are married and your spouse does not work for Gulfstream too, his/her salary is going to be very low compared to other areas. Savannah is nice for a couple of weekends, not to live in. Morale goes down a little bit every time leadership refuses to make a decision based on the clear data available today, and requests yet another trade study for tomorrow. Morale goes down a bit more every time leadership shoots from the hip on something serious because resources are too busy working on the latest chapter of that same old trade study and cannot work on something that is actually important. Ah, and remember the difficult people I mentioned above? You will eventually meet them...

Pros

-Work in an air conditioned hangar! -All the tools and support needed to do the job -Excellent training available -Good safety culture -Fairly easy work -Lots of opportunities to grow

Cons

Big corporate politics at times. Some people just love to point fingers. Rules that are very excessive due to incompetence, instead of just firing morons.

Pros

PTO policy is pretty straight forward and a decent amount of time. If you’re right out of high school or your only desire is to turn wrenches you’re entire life, this place is for you. Three day weekends.

Cons

There is no mobility. They can’t find mechanics so if you are one, they will keep you there at all costs. They fully rely on the good old boy system. The people that are in management positions, especially at West Palm, do not care about anything other than staying where they are and using what little power they think they have. Management is very customer focused but forget their employees. Health benefits are seriously lacking.
