Pros

Well some of the good reasons to work at H.E.B. is that being in the grocery business unless you do something wrong it will be hard to lose your job. Everyone has to eat right.

Cons

You are sometimes taken advantage of. They make you work long hours and they sometimes don't give you your break. If they do give you your break it is never on time. You also have to fight to get hours and management looks down on you just because you are working your way through college and they aren't any more. Also if you manager tells you to do something specifically and it is wrong, they do not get in trouble, your the only one to blame. They never want to make you a full timer because they don't want to pay for benefits but they would like for you to work full time hours. The pay is horrible and most of the time since the managers are mainly men, unless you are a gorgeous or big breasted woman you won't move up as quickly.

Pros

Working closing at Food Service in Bakery is much more pleasant than morning shift, less oversight but! you are still held to a high standard to complete all your tasks. You get raises twice a year, depending on your performance. All my co-workers are very nice and my manager is friendly too.

Cons

Rush dates like Valentines, Mother's Day, big sports events, Thanksgiving (PIES!!), and Christmas can be challenging but as long as you don't talk too much and just do the work, it'll be okay.

Pros

None. Get out while you can.

Cons

Houston location has the worst leaders. They're cheap with raises and cut the good people so the management team can get better bonuses. They make up rules that make no sense when they feel like. There are guys in the yard who have no job titles but somehow are still working there doing nothing all day? The safety leads/radio room/management are a joke. They cover up for the people they're buddies with. Ran into the gate? Destroy thousands of dollars of goods or a trailer? Ran out of gas in the middle of the road driving the mule offsite? Not a problem if you're buddies with management and safety. If you're buddies with management, you get opportunities offered to you even though you may be among the worst and slowest spotters. If you're not buddies with management/safety/radio, you have to watch your back. HEB corporate needs to look into management here.
