Pros

- Interesting and diverse problems to solve - Tons of impact - Highly visible output

Cons

- Grocery retail runs on razor thin margins so there's very little growth opportunities for employees - All the teams are staffed in a very scrappy way for a company that is so large - Not very invested in tech, still operates as an old school business - A ton of your effort will be change management vs good design, which could potentially hamper your career - Lots of management turn over without a defined process in place leads to stagnant career growth

Cons

NO FULL-TIME OFFER! The recruitment process at H-E-B Digital is deeply frustrating and appears to lack integrity. Despite having relevant internship experience and receiving positive feedback during the interview process, I found that the company’s hiring strategy seems entirely reliant on prioritizing individuals recently laid off from FAANG companies. It feels as though they are not genuinely interested in developing new talent or giving equal consideration to qualified candidates who don't fit that specific profile. Advice for Management: Be transparent with applicants regarding your hiring criteria. It is demoralizing to waste time and emotional energy interviewing when the process feels like a box-checking exercise. If you are not actually hiring, do not string candidates along with positive feedback. The current approach reflects poorly on the company’s values and brand. Recommendation: If you are not a recent layoff from a major tech firm, I would suggest looking elsewhere. It appears to be their business model to prioritize those specific candidates over others, regardless of your personal qualifications or positive performance during interviews.
