Pros

I like being in an office setting and it's definitely an office setting. It can be fun song sometimes. Most of the people that work in my office are friendly.

Cons

As a tax prep you only make $11 an hour an hour my son-in-law makes more than me at Wendy's. I stress and put myself through all this training and it never raises my pay. There's no real infrastructure on how to level up. You learn all on your own. It's very frustrating because tax laws very hard we heard and I'm pretty booksmart and I'm still having a tough time getting off off of level one. No one really helps you in my location anyway. Just took a 8 hour class i September so I could do the Emerald advance to only work 3 hours the entire season. Hardly get hours. Trying to raise my family on this income and it's just not there.

Pros

H&R Block provides thorough training, and employees should expect to study continuously throughout the season. The training is valuable and helps build a strong understanding of tax preparation. There are opportunities to "level up," and advancing through the certification levels can lead to higher pay over time. Management is approachable and readily available when assistance is needed.

Cons

The position is seasonal, and the starting pay is $12 per hour. During peak tax season, employees may work very long hours—sometimes up to 10 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week—which can be physically and mentally exhausting. In my first month, I also found that some of the staff were not especially welcoming, which made the initial adjustment more challenging.
