Short staffed, 6:1 ratios on a cardiac floor day shift, I can tell the difference between working for a “for profit” vs non for profit hospital system with budget stress. Expensive benefits and poor coverage with health insurance. Very little support staff: no transport team, no IV team, etc. Punitive with sick calls: only 3 missed days a year allowed... Measly raises each year, 25 cents to be exact. Old outdated computer charting system that does not provide any flowsheets for patient trends.
