Pros

Quick credentialing by hospital, was able to start new job in less than 3 weeks, they hired as a new grad, as prn was able to choose my schedule, I could work 40 hrs/wk any shift or work as little as once/month. Majority of supervising docs are nice. Pay is fair, but no percs unless full time

Cons

"Orientation" was a joke. They gave me 2 days of "orientation" since I was a new grad (apparently if you have experience then you only get one day) & that consisted of being placed with another mid level who was on the clock/actively seeing patients (and mine actually had a student with them that they were precepting for!!!) with little time to "orient" anyone. I basically job shadowed for a couple hours and then was asked if id start seeing patients, not knowing ANY protocols or how the ehr worked in real life or where anything was or who the head nurse was... it was aweful. I didnt even know how to get to the cafeteria for my break! I haphazardly stumbled my way through the first 3 months before I felt remotely confident. Radiologist stops reading xrays around 5 pm and dont start reading them until 9am or so, so you must be very competent reading your own xrays. There are over 40 er rooms and anywhere from 3-6 providers (including docs) so if you have a question for a doc they are hard to find or are so busy themselves they dont have time to stop and listen to you, which was extraordinarily frustrating as mid levels wernt allowed to admit patients or call the hospitalist to discuss the case. Also the "fast track" area (where low acuity pts were sent) stopped being a fast track due to new rules from hospital management that no one should sit in the waiting room so long as a room was open... so colds were mixed with chest pains and colds were waiting 3x longer to be seen bc a abd pain or cp pt was in front of them, thus there really isnt a "fast" track anymore.
