Pros

Used to have a good Campus recruiting and training team, not sure how it is now. Plenty of opportunities for regular Java, C++ and .NET developers, Database admins, Testers. (Any other rare technology, stay away - they will either unassign you once the project is done or force you to learn a technology of their choice) Decent job security for those who are in constant fear of losing their jobs due to poor rating. (Maybe try working harder for a change?) Good for Managers and employees with no drive or passion who can sit around in office till late evening, pretending to work hard. And for employees who have stayed for 10 -15 or more years with HCL and are in a cushy position just doing mundane admin work, just in a higher position Good Employee Engagement Team that comes up with periodic events and activities Team Lunch/Outing

Cons

Poor management, no innovation and no vision. Very profit-driven. Expect a lot from employees without proper investment in tools and infrastructure. Management actually forces people to write patents for them so that HCL can own the patents in return for a small compensation for employee. A senior - level manager actually threatened to not give good annual review ratings for deserving employees if they did not file patents. Never delivers on promises to employees and had a philosophy it never followed - Employee First, ridiculous. Managers pester for "Status" of tasks and do not really pay any attention to delays due to challenges encountered Every simple task takes too much time to be implemented, whether its assigning a machine to a new employee or getting a simple travel request approved - too many chains and branches of approval required. (And they actually think they can compete with extremely agile startups). Too many "Policies" that are detrimental to the company's growth and are of no use to anyone. They change their Annual Review process every 2 years to something "new" but its nothing more than the same thing repackaged to show a sense of progress, it only makes things more complicated for the employee. They shove surveys down your throat and force you to take them simply for internal promotion among management..

Pros

It is a job that pays you money

Cons

Where do I even begin.... HCl is a company that will overwork and underpay you and never give you a raise. I was lucky to get a very competitive wage when I started that I felt like I deserved and I fought for that. However even that process they bait and switched 3 times offering higher amounts over the phone and then going back on their word and offering less and less each time until they finally sent me an offer letter. The entire company is inept at communication at any and all levels. You will never get a raise and any time you have any kind of issue or need management/HR to do anything for you results in being ignored. Additionally they will add and add to your roles and responsibilities and ask for the impossible and unreasonable. They get contracts by underbidding other MSP's and then hiring as few people on site as possible and refer the rest of the work to overseas workers that will never do any work and always kick responsibility back to you. If you ever get lucky and they are forced to actually do their job they show that they clearly have no idea what they are doing or talking about. All around a terrible company to work for. If your job role is getting outsourced to HCL, fight for a good salary up front because they will never give you a raise and try to look for another place to work as soon as you can.
