Pros

Job Stability & Global Presence HCLTech is a large, established company with global clients—offering good job security and international exposure. Learning Opportunities You may get hands-on experience with large-scale enterprise projects, legacy systems, and new technologies depending on your project. Internal Mobility Opportunities exist to move between domains, projects, or technologies within the organization. Onsite Opportunities (Sometimes) Long-term projects with international clients can open doors for short or long-term onsite work. Work-Life Balance (Project Dependent) Many projects offer a decent work-life balance compared to startups or product-based companies. Training & Certifications Access to internal learning platforms, certifications, and mandatory upskilling sessions.

Cons

Slow Growth in Salary Increments are generally lower compared to product companies or fast-paced startups. Limited Innovation As a service-based company, many roles are maintenance or client-specific tasks—not always cutting-edge development. Client Dependency Your tech stack, role, and even growth can heavily depend on the client’s environment. Less Competitive Peer Group Not as aggressive or technically intense as top-tier product companies, so learning from peers might be limited. Bureaucracy & Processes Being a big company, internal processes can be slow or rigid, affecting agility and decision-making. Bench Time Risk You might be on the bench (without a project) for some time after one ends, which can impact growth or motivation.

Pros

It is a job that pays you money

Cons

Where do I even begin.... HCl is a company that will overwork and underpay you and never give you a raise. I was lucky to get a very competitive wage when I started that I felt like I deserved and I fought for that. However even that process they bait and switched 3 times offering higher amounts over the phone and then going back on their word and offering less and less each time until they finally sent me an offer letter. The entire company is inept at communication at any and all levels. You will never get a raise and any time you have any kind of issue or need management/HR to do anything for you results in being ignored. Additionally they will add and add to your roles and responsibilities and ask for the impossible and unreasonable. They get contracts by underbidding other MSP's and then hiring as few people on site as possible and refer the rest of the work to overseas workers that will never do any work and always kick responsibility back to you. If you ever get lucky and they are forced to actually do their job they show that they clearly have no idea what they are doing or talking about. All around a terrible company to work for. If your job role is getting outsourced to HCL, fight for a good salary up front because they will never give you a raise and try to look for another place to work as soon as you can.
