Pros

Working environment is pro and con I can say I’ve never felt threatened or like I was in competition here Everyone is really nice for the most part Work life balance depending on your department Work from home also depending on department

Cons

Horrible annual salary increases/review process. It’s pretty much rigged so that only higher managers can get a decent raise HMSA is known for being able to hire REALLY good people. I’ve seen so much talent come in over the years I’ve worked here, but HMSA is absolutely horrible and retaining them. Pretty much all the good ones leave for other companies and it’s evident why. Leadership is horrible in most departments in terms of senior managers and above Communication is HORRIBLE. Sometimes there isn’t even any communication. When you’re provider or member facing this is necessary for the job but hey if you learn anything at HMSA it’s how to just go with the punches, even if you’re the one getting punched in the face, metaphorically speaking. Technology and work processes are sooooo behind, I guess it’s catching up though with some of the newer updates they’re doing

Pros

Flexible work schedule working from home is an option

Cons

No standard training, they fail to train you and then when mistakes happen they act like it is your fault when you were never given direction to complete task, it is blown off by management as human error on trainers part but you are shamed for it, management got to that seat by being there since HS uneducated and untrained as managers, managers afraid of conflict, HUGE discrimination issue. If you are not Polynesian don’t work here you will be outcast, the pay is TERRIBLE. Don’t waste your time and energy go work at COSTCO or Walmart and make more money with less headache.
