Pros
There's little to like about HMSA.
Cons
The longer you stay, the more you realize how toxic the work culture is and how the insidious nature starts from the top down. This unproductive culture is evidenced even more by the tenured middle managers who promote outdated perspectives, bullying, and backstabbing behavior, which have run rampant within the company. Stop promoting people who have ugly personalities and are clearly not ready to supervise others. Management needs a major overhaul. All of the good policies and shiny things they lure people in with during the interview all turn out to be a lie. The CEO is more interested in paying his executive buddies than the actual folks doing the real work. Promises of positive change are drawn out over years, and consultants hired to analyze areas of improvement are just for show. Nothing meaningful is ever going to happen. The actual action falls flat for a company whose mission is all about caring for Hawaii and improving lives. How about you compensate your employees, show them you care, and retain them for a change? Don't take the job unless you're desperate for a below-average paycheck. Long term, there's no room for growth. I'd advise anyone interested to look elsewhere.
