Pros
I enjoyed working with some of the people. There are some smart, fun employees who pull their own weight. If you love helping people over the phone and have a sense of urgency and can quickly and accurately locate a customer on a map, then this job may be a good fit for you.
Cons
I quit HONK and accepted a better paying job and a significantly better work environment. At HONK, the pay is low, even if you go above and beyond and do more than an Operations Specialist. They hire who they know, even if they aren't the best fit for the position. When they won the Farmers contract, they brought in higher up employees who changed the culture in a very negative way. They talk in their corner all day and talk down to people. They started declining PTO for employees because they used "too much". If the policy stated unlimited PTO, best practice would be to have a meeting with the employees if you are planning on declining PTO if an employee takes more than a certain number or days. Equipment always breaks and people are always sick, possibly due to sharing a desk. You will have a difficult time hearing customers who call you from the side of the road, because all of your co-workers are on the phone as well and there aren't any cubicle walls to act as a partial sound barrier to separate employees. I was constantly sick while working there and since I've left, I haven't been sick once. Parking is limited, so they also have other parking spaces further away from the office. It's a start up that has growing pains as many do. I used to love the feel of this company, but they seemed to have gone in a different direction, which doesn't continue to provide the best customer service to Farmers customers. They have free snacks, but I would prefer more hourly pay over unhealthy snacks I never ate. There are young, inexperienced, and immature employees who don't want to take responsibility and work hard, and there are no repercussions for those employees. If you have excellent customer service skills, a willingness to be on-time, work hard and take on more responsibilities, there are other companies who will pay you more. There medical insurance benefits used to bepretty phenomenal. There is no 401K. You will work most holidays unless you requested off far in advance. That is to be expected though because it's a 24/7 operation.
