Pros
Thee work is challenging at times and there are some very knowledgeable people working at HP, but until the executive team puts the right culture in place, most employees will stay disengaged (40-50% of ALL employees are rated as DISENGAGED in the latest VIA Survey and yet no action has taken place to rectify these issues). However, if you look at many of the other similar legacy tech firms they are all facing massive layoffs and struggling to compete. When that happens culture is the first thing executives and managers forget to nurture yet it is the one thing all these companies need most to survive the hard transitions. -Average to above average salary for certain locations -Genuine people that work much to hard for the -Some interesting work but you will pigeon-holed to remain focussed on that work and positioning for 4 years plus
Cons
- Poor recognition or even compliments (and they are free!) - Poor Bonus - Zero equity - No Career advancement or even support - but primarily this is a symptom of a shrinking workforce (As Dion has stated, "You cannot cut your way to growth"...but he sure is trying!) - Lack of any culture and no general executive support to even foster one (e.g. birthday cakes once a month is not culture, folks) - 3-year 401k vesting for the 4% company match - Very little focus on employee well-being - No promotions given during the 3 years I have worked at HP, for myself or anyone in this office!!!
