Pros

The pros of working at HP also create cons. Employees can shuffle to different departments and switch careers relatively easily. The cons are that it's usually from being overworked and burnt out, or to prevent employees who are wanting to quit. Another 'pro' you might hear about from former employees is that the culture is very open door and equal voiced regardless of position. However, that old culture has been dieing with too many frequent management changes and people retiring. The company is also becoming more hierarchal in structure.

Cons

Work life balance is non-existent. Too many reorganizations. Too siloed of an organization, very frustrating environment to work in. Not a lot of job certainty right now. Exremely limited upward mobility.

Pros

Fantastically little manager oversight. I hate being micromanaged. Give me some direction and let me work. In this way, it is great. I contract through a staffing agency, who I also never talk to. A dream. Pay is good. Expectations are low (which could be a con for some).

Cons

There is really no manager guidance, and hardly any feedback. Managers aren't allowed to meet regularly with contractors. Very hierarchical. Super slow task initiation. SUPER slow implementation. Like a six-month to one-year dev backlog. Not a good fit if you're hungry and a change-agent and live to make work processes better. Did I say slow? I meant glacial. And tribal/political. And scrumfall dysfunction. Other than that, it's great.
