Pros

Incredible opportunity to make products that can improve lives, and bring to life new and differentiated customer experiences, which is very rewarding. Incredible people, growth mindset culture, and opportunities for great visibility and career growth. Many great opportunities overall if you voice your personal goals and objectives, and set aside time for your personal development plans and training.

Cons

Long hours, including meetings at night with teams in other countries. Many meetings, as you coordinate and work to solve problems across multiple fronts, with many different teams. Must prioritize your objectives and time very carefully. You must also manage and drive your own career path and development as there are no rotation programs or guaranteed development paths in place. Work/life balance is very, very challenging as resources are cut, and more is consistently demanded across the tech industry.

Pros

Fantastically little manager oversight. I hate being micromanaged. Give me some direction and let me work. In this way, it is great. I contract through a staffing agency, who I also never talk to. A dream. Pay is good. Expectations are low (which could be a con for some).

Cons

There is really no manager guidance, and hardly any feedback. Managers aren't allowed to meet regularly with contractors. Very hierarchical. Super slow task initiation. SUPER slow implementation. Like a six-month to one-year dev backlog. Not a good fit if you're hungry and a change-agent and live to make work processes better. Did I say slow? I meant glacial. And tribal/political. And scrumfall dysfunction. Other than that, it's great.
