Pros
There are some great people who work here. Unfortunately, their talents are often misused or ignored entirely.
Cons
The dollar is sacred at the expense of everything else. Those with shares in the company are only interested in maximizing their gains. They will spin a tale to say otherwise, but it will not take long to notice what is the number one priority. Until recently the core values of the company made up the acronym EBITDA...and that was on purpose. After many complaints, they dropped a couple of the values so it no longer does this, but that did not change the culture at all. Leadership is comprised of sales professionals who may be great at sales, but are lacking in leadership skills. Everything about this company points that sales is all that matters. If you are in sales, then this may be the company for you. If you are not in sales, you are better served to look elsewhere. If you are not in sales there is not a lot of opportunity for growth. This is a well known issue and has never been addressed. There is definitely a ceiling. Finally, if you are a minority and want to advance your career, this is not the company for you. First, the majority of the company is white and certainly in key leadership roles. Second, woman outnumber the men in lower positions, but the ratio is not evident in leadership. The company is also old. If you are young and ambitious and come to this organization, then be prepared to be disappointed. So if you are an old white male, you have a future with this company. ...and one little extra. For an insurance broker it is amazing how horrible the benefits are at this company. They spin it that it is the best, but in reality they would rather line the coffers of the elite than invest the money earned in their people.
