Pros

- Opportunities to meet and connect with colleagues across the business if you are forthcoming enough - Federal structure of the divisions gives them a very different feel from one another - Post room / Print room / Facilities teams are all very down-to-earth and a delight to work with - there are some incredible human beings across the company doing stellar work in Marketing, Publicity, Sales, Production - You will get to work closely with authors and agents - It's a comfortable work environment (pre-pandemic)

Cons

- Salaries are not in line with the cost of living in London - It is left unsaid, but it becomes apparent that reading submissions will take up your leisure time and so you are doing a lot of unpaid work. This is why appropriate salaries are so important - Processes and procedures are not so standardised across all divisions of the business, so how quickly you will gain this knowledge is dependent on who is teaching or handing over to you - Much lip-service is paid to diversity & inclusion, and to assisting colleagues with physical or mental disability but the words are not borne-out in meaningful action - There's a limit to how much colleagues, line managers, H.R. and Occupational Health will assist in situations with adverse circumstances
