Pros

It's true that they pay you hourly or commission, depending on your sales revenue, which is a great advantages for this type of business, but this is totally suppressed but all the cons.

Cons

They treat Stylists as a slave, there are just too many nonsense rules, like you can't have a cup of coffee on your station, can't use the phone at all, not even in the break room. Really? Coming from a business that is based on social interaction and needs to use social media to be successful? We can't use our phone internet to browse the social media while at work, how can we advertise our BUSINESS or communicate with our clients? There is a huge inconsistency in business, some days are busy but most of the time it was very slow. They offer the minimum wage for hourly pay, which was NOT discussed with me prior to hiring, they offer bogus perks, not enough good classes, the best classes were never offered in my location. They basically lie, they told me I was going to be "on call" but I was on the schedule full time and could not argue with hours. The hours are ridiculous, they close at 9 pm but there is no business after 8 pm ever. They expect you to do the heavy duty cleaning when they could just hire a cleaning crew once or twice a week, we don't get paid enough to do all that cleaning. The only day I called in sick, I found out that my schedule had been changed without any notice and that I was supposed to find a replacement, when I had a huge migraine, that's when I quit. One more thing, they used to change my schedule all the time without asking me or telling me in advance and Tuesday was my mandatory day to close, since it was dead and nobody else wanted to work that day.

Thanks for the positive comment regarding our compensation - it is important to us that our Stylist can either earn commission or receive an hourly rate. With over 900+ salons it is important that we have policies and practices in place to ensure that we are consistently and fairly operating. While asking our Stylists not to drink coffee on the floor may seem an odd rule, it really is for the safety of both the Stylists and the clients - we would hate for anyone to accidentally have a hot beverage spilled on them. While we are huge fans of social media, using your personal phone on the floor distracts from the client experience and can give the perception that we are more focused on social interactions and not focused on delivering our clients WOW service. To the degree possible we try to take each Stylists schedule preference into consideration, we are sorry if the needs of the salon operation did not quite fit your schedule desires. We offer a wealth of free classes, while all are not available in all locations - if there is enough demand for a class in a specific location we have accommodated that request. Lastly, a clean salon allows our Stylists to service clients in a healthy and welcoming environment, one that they will be proud to come back to; as such, a clean salon helps each Stylist build and grow their clientele pool. We wish you all the best and continued success.

It's wonderful to hear that you love our team atmosphere and feel supported in your career development. We know that a busy salon brings its fair share of fast-paced stress, and we appreciate your ability to handle the rush so beautifully. Thank you for everything you do for our clients in Jacksonville! Gustavo Serbia, Chief Human Resources Officer

Pros

Close-knit group of coworkers, casual/relaxed management style, busy location

Cons

not much flexibility for schedules (have to work late nights), color line is limited and low quality, no support from upper management and salon needed a lot of updates that I think have been taken care of now, but were left in unacceptable condition for a long time. Also, not enough structure to who takes walk-ins, which led to laziness, drama, and bad customer service.
