Pros

room to work your way up the corporate ladder extremely generous PTO (especially as a manager) guaranteed minimum wage pay can be good, but depends on a lot of factors sometimes out of your control some of the upper management is great and genuinely cares about the employees

Cons

outdated salons color and styling products used are not kept up with industry changes, and if a new thing is brought in, it’s months or even more behind the rest of the industry you are pushed to meet #’s that are not realistic most of the time. And if you do, there’s another number you need to hit after. It’s never enough. You are pushed to sell products. If you don’t like what hair cuttery has to sell you feel so pushy. The new company seems more about the $ than the people.. it’s corporate. Depending on the district leader, the salon managers are sometimes unable to actually handle employee issues. You can get away with anything. Benefits can be terrible even if they’re offered. Pricing keeps going up even though there’s nothing to show in the salons for the extra $ the clients are spending. Some stores haven’t even had a repaint in 10+ years. Some of the best upper management/corporate employees were pushed out with the buyout. It’s just not the same anymore.

Pros

Close-knit group of coworkers, casual/relaxed management style, busy location

Cons

not much flexibility for schedules (have to work late nights), color line is limited and low quality, no support from upper management and salon needed a lot of updates that I think have been taken care of now, but were left in unacceptable condition for a long time. Also, not enough structure to who takes walk-ins, which led to laziness, drama, and bad customer service.
