Pros
Good benefits, especially for retail. Health, dental, vision, life insurance. 401k. Profit-sharing.
Cons
Really inconsistent management. Work conditions vary wildly from store to store, district to district. If you're at a store with a good location, your day will be easier than a struggling store, through no fault of your own. This is true of base employees and management alike. No solutions will be coming from the top. Corporate execs came up through the company and know a culture of family, but haven't worked in the stores as they are today. If you want to stay for any length of time now, you have to have a spouse/partner who makes real money while you provide the benefits, or just be one of the old school hpb types still couch surfing at 48,, playing in a bar band and happy to be working at all.
