Pros

Good office space, friendly coworkers, free food and snacks, plenty of nice "perks" to get your in the door. Typical ‘hip’ corporate package: 401K, health insurance plans, ‘unlimited’ PTO, holiday parties, company outings/happy hours, some free catered lunches, mother’s room, maternity leave, flexible work from home policy. There is an aggressive Charm Campaign happening here, with tons of emphasis on Going Green & recycling, using #WomeninTech for promotion, curating multiple fake photoshoots for online articles to show diversity, etc. It's all a carefully constructed image to lure new hires and keep boosting Hallmark's brand. Many employees are very talented and smart, and willing to put in tons of hard work to lower costs and make projects run smoothly. There is a cozy family vibe on many teams, and people exchange funny memes and go for coffee to cope with the bad days. Of course, cosmetic changes don't fix the rotting roots.

Cons

This is a Fake tech company controlled by middle America's middle managers. Don't accept an offer here unless you are willing to go through heartbreak. You are not working at the cutting edge thriving tech company Labs is trying to model itself to be- you are working at a failed experiment on its last legs. Hallmark Labs keeps recruiting for tech positions and has a major retention problem; departments are a revolving door of developers and engineers. No one stays long because it's impossible to do work when your micromanaged by power hungry Kansas City greeting card moguls. Ultimately, after years of pain, overtime, fire drills, slashed budgets, and pressure, top priority projects are axed without notice. So for engineers, only accept a job at Labs if you enjoy going to 2 hour Meetings about Meetings, Getting three years of your work destroyed by a incompetent middle manager's rushed decision, Lame team building, and forced positivity. The company is bleeding money, good quality people, and there is an exodus of true talent- leaving only old dogs that throw newbies under the bus when things go wrong.

Hallmark Labs Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Recent change in leadership at the corporate level, has resulted in some strategic shifts at Labs. When decisions are made, many factors come into play. One of them is the way it will impact all of our employees. We often have to make long term business decisions that could have implications in the short term. However, we believe that our company will ultimately benefit in the future. We’d be happy to discuss any other feedback you may have.

Pros

Unlimited vacation, innovation competitions, community projects, great office culture, lots of employees who care about quality and each other

Cons

Corporate doesn't listen to their employees. While valuing their customers, they don't share the same concern for the employees; the constant approach is how do we get more from the employees for less. They don't value innovation or have a solid business plan other than to hope that non-core-consumers adapt to what they're offering their current consumers like. There's no evolution in adapting to today's consumer landscape.

Pros

Opportunities are abundant at SpiritClips. Ambition, hard work, and ability to deliver are paramount for each individual. The office environment is bright, and it's come a long way in the past two years. There's always been a culture of individual growth, and it's becoming more and more refined. The company is evolving before my eyes! The people in this world that love to work hard and try new things will find this company fulfilling. Getting to know these people is the best part of working at SpiritClips. The ability to drive change is another great positive of this company. This doesn't mean the company will adopt all attempts to change, but most of the Senior Management are all ears of positive changes that can be made to better the products, organization, or themselves. The Senior Executives including the CEO will get to know your name, and talk to you during breaks about life. They greet you with smiles most of the time, and genuinely care about every employee of the company. Last but not least, the products that are managed by SpiritClips have a common theme "Making meaningful connections". In a world where "social" became staring at your phone, SpiritClips works tirelessly to make life more meaningful. There's still a long way to go, but I go to sleep every night knowing my day was spent trying to make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Cons

Every positive can become a negative depending on perception. Everything I wrote in my "pros" can be spun to be a "con".
