Not a good place for engineers - Senior Engineer Harley-Davidson, Inc. Employee Review

Pros

Bikes, customers, history, casual dress code

Cons

Leadership, leadership, leadership, leadership, leadership. Simply, this company has terrible leadership. Over the last 5 or so years, they managed to fire, lay-off, drive away, humiliate, disappoint, demoralize, antagonize, insult and who knows what else to hundreds of very, very good people who are no longer with the company. Engineering leadership has been especially poor, from the Senior VP of product development, who is not even an engineer, to the VP, who created an environment that even he could not work in so he took a "voluntary" early retirement, incompetent managers, who should not be entrusted to manage professionals, and I could go on and on... Bottom line, if you are an engineer, do not expect a career at Harley-Davidson, as the company does not value good engineering, professionalism, and other values that come with it.

Pros

My hiring journey began with a seamless application process, followed immediately by an incredibly organized scheduling phase. The Harley team kept me informed every step of the way. I never had to guess where I stood, as next steps were always laid out clearly. During the interview experience the entire Harley team panel was professional, welcoming, and were genuinely interested in my background, making the interview feel like a collaborative conversation. The transparency throughout the process gave me complete confidence when I ultimately accepted the job offer.

Cons

I have no cons to call out based on my experience in the interview process.
