I was fired for advocating for my patient - Charge RN Hays Medical Center Employee Review

Pros

My unit gave me so much experience on my resume, no one can ever take that away. I miss the friendship I had with my coworkers. I still take pride in my employment there. Opportunities to grow.

Cons

Unit managers are worthless since the upper management makes major decisions for them without consult. I was terminated without warning and without explanation other than “making rude comments to staff”. My manager’s manager didn’t care to hear what I had to say. He gave vague, pre-canned, generic responses to my questions about it all. A year later I finally found out the truth, it was a male therapist who had a reputation for getting mad when he didn’t get his way. He went to the CNO after we disagreed on treatment for a patient, which is not the proper protocol, and I was denied any chance to discuss things with my manager. It’s all politics. I was punished over patient advocacy. Also, administration was pushing a cardiothoracic surgery service for financial gain knowing full well there were post-op problems.
