There is no money left in car sales - Salesman Hendrick Automotive Group Employee Review

Pros

You are never alone in your misery. Free (awful until 3 years) health insurance.

Cons

Micromanagement by incompetent managers with unrealistic expectations and a total lack of comprehension of the state of the market or quality of sales leads. Fire and brimstone morning meetings which blame the sales staff for all the ills of the world. Worst pay plans in the state. No upward mobility - finance managers and sales managers are recruited from outside. And mind boggling turnover as a result of it all, which management does not care about. If you want to leave, good. They'll just waste more money training the next greenhorn who walks in the door rather than paying the people with company experience a little bit more in base salary.

Pros

I enjoy meeting our customers. No days are the same. Flexible schedule. I'm the face of Hendrick GM parts and understand the importance of my role in keeping our customer base and expanding it.

Cons

None. I have great support and I bring back information that helps determine decisions to improve sales.

Pros

Solid corporation Corporate culture is positive Community initiatives are second to none Free health care Freedom to move

Cons

It's sales. When the economy is soft, commissions can be tight. Most locations work on a volume pay plan rather than gross profit. Most of your coworkers' primary qualification is the ability to fog a mirror. While you can largely come and go as you please, it's still expected that you are on the lot no less than 50 hours a week, leaving very little room for work-life balance.
