Avoid BDC at ALL costs if you want to THRIVE & GROW - look at other positions within the company, it IS out there! - Anonymous employee Hendrick Automotive Group Employee Review

Pros

Mr. Hendrick is the real deal - a genuine, stand up, accomplished businessman whom I have the utmost respect for. I sincerely do not feel that the BDC and its management/trainers reflect the standard/reputation that Mr. H has worked so hard to build. I can assure that you will find much more success and happiness in any other department of the company - the BDC is just not it.

Cons

Don't get lost in the smoke show! The work/life balance is non-existent. Be prepared to make 200+ calls on a dialer. BDC is SO disconnected from the REAL process of buying a car. LIMITED growth unless a training or team manager position opens up. If you start in the BDC, you will stay in the BDC unless you "have the numbers" to get a sales position in a dealership and even that is a long shot considering they are short staffed as it is. You will call dead/cold leads and blow smoke to get them to visit the dealership to drum up sales that the "dealership wouldn't have been able to find themselves". Appointing and sending in credit challenged/unrealistic buyers only hinders actual sales in the showroom hence the tension between dealership sales staff and BDC. Hendrick is such a respectable company and I hate that the BDC tarnishes his reputable brand.

Pros

I enjoy meeting our customers. No days are the same. Flexible schedule. I'm the face of Hendrick GM parts and understand the importance of my role in keeping our customer base and expanding it.

Cons

None. I have great support and I bring back information that helps determine decisions to improve sales.

Pros

Solid corporation Corporate culture is positive Community initiatives are second to none Free health care Freedom to move

Cons

It's sales. When the economy is soft, commissions can be tight. Most locations work on a volume pay plan rather than gross profit. Most of your coworkers' primary qualification is the ability to fog a mirror. While you can largely come and go as you please, it's still expected that you are on the lot no less than 50 hours a week, leaving very little room for work-life balance.
