Pros

Great health benefits and 401K. Lots of various jobs you can apply for within the company.

Cons

The handling of certain situations by local management will vary depending on what dealership you're working at. There were issues with the General Manager of the store I worked for at the time only being there half the time and not taking responsibility when issues arose. The dealership was caught up in a federal lawsuit over racial issues, causing unnecessary distractions and drama. The lack of communication was growing more apparent, the scheduling was inconsistent for the job I was doing, and nothing was getting resolved whenever I would try to address some issues. I wanted to stay within the company by transferring to another dealership on 2 occasions but was turned down both times, leaving me no choice but to leave the company altogether.

Pros

I have worked for Hendrick Automotive Group for 13 years and still enjoy coming to work every day and hope to retire from here. There are many many team members here with 20, 25, 30, 35+ years of service which tells you that we mean it when we say "People are the company's most important asset." Hendrick University (HU) is one of the best aspects of the company. HU provides training throughout all levels of the organization which tells you we invest in our people. HU supports you meeting your personal and professional goals at the same time supporting the goals of the organization. We offer Technician apprenticeships in addition to paid training, tuition reimbursement, and tool vouchers. We offer comprehensive and affordable benefits. If you are career oriented, hard working, live with integrity, customer focused, and a servant leader, you will be successful here. The opportunities are really endless - the sky is the limit.

Cons

The 401(k) match could be more robust to be competitive with other organizations. The company has made a number of improvements in our Paid Time Off plans over the last 13 years but would encourage Paid Time Off plans to be reviewed annually and continue these improvements to attract and retain great talent.

Pros

Solid corporation Corporate culture is positive Community initiatives are second to none Free health care Freedom to move

Cons

It's sales. When the economy is soft, commissions can be tight. Most locations work on a volume pay plan rather than gross profit. Most of your coworkers' primary qualification is the ability to fog a mirror. While you can largely come and go as you please, it's still expected that you are on the lot no less than 50 hours a week, leaving very little room for work-life balance.
