Pros

For the last year with Hitachi Energy, I have been introduced to many new people, concepts and methods that have been developed and are continuing to be developed in Hitachi. It is refreshing to be a part of a team who puts as much emphasis on empowering and enabling it's employees as it puts on any other aspect of it's business! It always seems that someone or some training is always there to help with our development in our role for our jobs. Hitachi seems to always focus on removing whatever "Road Blocks" we may encounter in our professional and personal development. Hitachi seems to realize that it's greatest strength is it's people and takes that very seriously.

Cons

As a Fast Growing company, Hitachi does encounter "Growing Pains" that come from managing the ways in which a huge number of new employees and existing employees are accommodated. Often times the strategies for improvement are still developing and not quite perfected yet. This is a relatively minor "Con" as there is constant effort to improve all problematic areas.

Pros

The internship has been a genuinely good mix of research, engineering, and practical software work. I have been giving meaningful technical problems instead of busy work, with enough freedom to explore solutions while still having support from experienced engineers. The team culture is collaborative, thoughtful, and very open to questions. I have learned a lot about power systems, simulation software, high-performance computing, and how research ideas turn into tools that actually support engineering work

Cons

Like many large organizations, some processes can move slowly, especially around software access, approvals, and tooling. It can take time to get the full development environment set up, and working across different systems. That said, most of the issues are structural rather than team-related
