Pros
Holder is an incredibly profitable and sophisticated company. It recruits from the best students at the top constructions schools in the country. It gives new associates lot of opportunity. The company is very technologically savvy. Holder also builds large and complicated projects for a company of its size (the lead partner on the Salt Lake City Airport expansion and the Atlanta Falcons new stadium, base building contractor for Apple’s new headquarters). Tommy (as the CEO is known) cares about the employees. The company generally avoids decisions that bring short term benefits but long term costs. Most of the vice presidents are extremely effective and care about the company culture and associates.
Cons
Holder can be a better place to start a career than to continue it. Most associates at holder are parts of job site teams. Holder’s business model requires frequent moves for most of these team members. These moves may continue for ten to 15 years after joining Holder. Holder can become very political at and above the manager level. Making director (two levels above manager) is like making partner in a law firm. Most management at and above the director level is somewhat out of touch with the realities of life at Holder.
