Pros

Plenty of job security (if you can survive) because of the extremely high turnover rate of the staff. Plenty of overtime during the peak season, but you'll need to work it to make ends meet. If you can handle the personnel issues and "insane" job responsibilities, you can work anywhere else in the country with ease.

Cons

Ownership will not invest 10 cents in this property or it's few "good" employees. The few responsible employees that remain are "saddled" with an unmanageable amount of responsibility (a.k.a. "they work the horse that works the best"). The remaining employees do as little as possible, and it's tolerated, because at "near minimum" wages, management can't staff this place with anything other than "warm bodies." At one point in time, the number of employees with criminal records greatly out numbered those without one (no joke). Constant tension, arguments, and inappropriate behavior among staff towards each other and guests No consistency in rules. No employee handbook. One person can sit in the lobby for months on end, doing nothing, and it will be tolerated. Another will be berated for insignificant actions. No consistency in schedules. Different every week. You could work 10 days straight without a day off, and 3-11, 7-3, and 11-7 in the same week. Don't plan on having a life outside this place, weekly schedule comes out on Friday, 1st day of the work week is Sunday, and it's usually revised 2 or 3 times after that. No raises EVER. Everyone that starts here is promised a review after 90 days, and additional performance reviews at least once a year after that. Never happens. Hotel is loaded with "dead weight" employees during daylight, but ONE front desk person between 3 PM and 7 AM the following day (an impossible task during the Summer months) Lateness, tardiness, constant call offs, and no-call no-shows result in people still having jobs, while the remaining staff suffer for it. Constant maintenance issues that never get fixed. Hotel is interested in doing what meets the bare minimum requirements to keep the Holiday Inn flag flying out front. This is only the tip of the iceberg, and I could literally go on forever. This organization is reminiscent of something that goes on in a third world country (not the the good old USA). They have no regard for people and lack a definition for what constitutes "human decency." They refuse to pay for performance, and make me glad that minimum wage isn't $ 2 an hour. Do yourself a favor, and steer clear of this place. Your career and life will benefit greatly if you do.

Pros

So much downtime to whatever you want. Especially as a college student, I could do all my homework at work, and since I workout and play basketball, I could literally exercise there too. I was playing games on my laptop, switch, xbox, all at work because it was so chill and such an easy job.

Cons

Pay is not that good because you're not doing much work. Not really opportunity for growth unless you move to a different and nicer hotel.
