Pros

A pay check every week

Cons

Empathy is a recurring theme throughout the orientation but you will be hard-pressed to find very much it in the actual work environment. What you will find (at least where I work) is a very short-staffed environment with extremely high turnover lacking in integrity and professionalism. Staff is burned out and more than a few are walking on eggshells. Management and some staff thrive on gossip and toxicity. Bragging took place about the letting go of a ton of staff in an already stretched-thin work-setting (with many remaining staff at their breaking point). "Leadership" is fear-based (You'll never get genuine buy-in that way.). Regardless of what they sold and continue to sell, worklife balance and collaboration do not exist here. There are a few kind and wonderful people (not coincidentally, they too, stated they are unhappy.). For a caring profession, there are some markedly uncaring people (Their behavior would be called narcissistic by more than a few objective people.).

Pros

It's small enough to really get to know your coworkers which in turn enhances team work and moral. Employees like each other, and enjoy working together, Many have been there for 10+ years. It's the closest to "we're like a big family" being legit than any local hospital system in Western MA. The senior leadership is genuinely invested in supporting the staff, the organization, the community, and the patients. It's refreshing to have a senior leadership team that is approachable and responsive.

Cons

It's a small community hospital so funds are not as exuberant as some of the other health systems in MA and CT, but it's leadership is resourceful and transparent with how funds are utilized.
