Pros

Houston Methodist is pretty great with making sure to stay competitive with other hospitals in terms of pay, and their benefits are pretty good.

Cons

The department is such a mess, and the director shouldn’t be where she is currently. Seems like she never got in trouble for misdeeds made against staff due to being friends with the higher ups. But if you have a high turnover of staff in your department… maybe it should be investigated.

Houston Methodist employees should bring concerns and constructive feedback to management or to the HR representative at their location. Visit the myHR portal or find contact information in the Methodist Administrative Resource System (MARS) under Human Resources.

Pros

The transition to Workday is a welcome modernization that brings the organization more in line with other large health systems.

Cons

the work-life balance for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) needs significant improvement. The criteria for earning administrative time place unrealistic expectations on APPs, making it difficult to achieve a sustainable workload. It is especially discouraging to work alongside physicians who have more attainable criteria for protected administrative time, creating a sense of inequity that negatively impacts morale. Additionally, there is little flexibility in scheduling. Offering 0.8 or 0.6 FTE positions would help retain experienced APPs who want to continue providing high-quality patient care while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Without these options, many APPs are left choosing between full-time burnout and leaving the organization altogether. the work-life balance for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) needs significant improvement. We appreciate your feedback and the care you provide as an Advanced Practice Provider. We hear your concerns about administrative time expectations, scheduling flexibility and the impact on work-life balance, and we take feedback like this seriously. APPs are an essential part of our care teams, and creating an equitable, sustainable environment is important to us.
