Where to begin…I want to be sure that I write this review carefully. If you, like I was before taking the job, are reading Glassdoor reviews because you are considering working for Hubbardton Forge and thinking to yourself “well there are negative reviews on Glassdoor, but those are just written by disgruntled ex-employees, right? These probably aren’t reasonable people, and anyway whatever happened to them surely won’t happen to me,” then please, please heed my words. Early in my tenure at HF I was warned in hushed tones by a coworker EXACTLY what would happen to me. I laughed them off. One year later, I watched as it all unfolded precisely as I was warned it would. Management at Hubbardton Forge does not obey logic; they obey the almighty dollar alone. HF is run by sycophants desperately clinging to whatever shred of clout they can get, fighting and scrambling over one another in a desperate bid to reign supreme over the scrap heap of a once-great company. As another reviewer noted, “snitch culture” is indeed alive and well. Certain employees will use whatever advantage they can get to bolster their own reputation, seek advancement, or shore up their position in the hope they aren’t the next on the chopping block. Key employees seem to disappear overnight and their positions inexplicably go unfilled as an ever-shrinking team attempts to meet the capricious demands of the beady-eyes venture capitalists in charge. Executive decision-making will seem baffling to anyone with a modicum of common sense or experience. You will find yourself looking around the room at every turn desperately seeking a sane voice, hoping someone (anyone) will start talking sense. The smartest people in the room will remain silent; they have been bullied into submission, or else are simply too exhausted to care about making meaningful change anymore. You will be silent too, or else dismissed. Good luck getting a raise; no employee is too valuable to be dismissed at a moment’s notice here. Have fun at Hubbardton Forge!
