Glorified Teller - Relationship Manager Hudson Valley Credit Union Employee Review

Pros

Coworkers at some of the branches are wonderful and supportive because we are all in the same boat. Good PTO Branch Management supportive at some branches, not at all of them. Good as a starter job in banking.

Cons

Relationship Manager is a glorified Teller position with more workload for poor pay. Busy branches like Poughkeepsie are chronically short of Tellers. High turnover. Some areas/branches have indifferent management, looking for warm bodies to sit in a chair. Reliance on several pieces of third party software creates overly complicated and clunky data processing and member interactions. Knowledge Center for processing is so so. Lots of time spent on fraud with members, could be several root causes. Training is so so, just concentrates on two pieces of software, not the other seven and the associated subsystems.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad you’ve found support among coworkers and value our PTO. As a community financial institution, we’re working hard to balance expansion and improvements while maintaining a strong employee experience. We recognize the concerns you’ve raised around staffing, technology, and training. These are areas we’re actively reviewing and improving as we grow.

Pros

Big promote from within mentality for entry level, supervisory, and low level management

Cons

If you are an experienced professional, with 10 to 15 years of experience, but you are not high level leadership, you will struggle to get promoted over an internal candidate, even when the job is in your area of specialty.
