Poor medical benefits and pay, but generally friendly and good work/life balance - Process Manager Humana Employee Review

Pros

People are typically friendly/helpful or at least not cutthroat. 401(k) is good. Louisville is a fairly nice city. Lots of opportunities to build out more robust processes (even if it is an uphill battle culturally and technologically at times).

Cons

Health benefits suck, and fitness centers are not free (ironic, right?). IT is behind the curve for Fortune 100 companies (no ERP, no wifi, blackberries instead of iPhones, excessive security, slow/inflexible process for IT projects, etc.). Company seems hesitant to get involved with the local community and charities (philanthropy is limited to grants through the Humana Foundation), in contrast to GE, Coca-Cola, and Expeditors, which aren't even based in Louisville but which nonetheless have a strong presence in the community.

Pros

Working from home, that’s about it.

Cons

Micromanaging, forced to help team members while you’re behind on your own caseload. Denied PTO requests, no PTO all summer and no PTO until the end of January 2027 (that’s supposed supposedly when they will be done ramping up with all their new employees.) a bunch of meetings weekly that are pointless. A weekly case conference where they are forcing nurses to present a complex case in front of over 300 people on zoom. Process changes change constantly, there are no job aid or guideline that help you make a Clinical decision but you will get out of it if you do it incorrectly. Save yourself the trouble and apply somewhere else. It is not worth it.
