Pros

You’ll have a job. This is the only pro I can take, oh and the relationship you build with customers is awesome as well.

Cons

All of it! I unfortunately fell for the trap of working for the bank because of the “culture” I don’t like sales, but I do have a passion of helping others and offering services and products that can benefit their life and their financial situation. During the interview process, they did their culture often on me saying that they are not about numbers but they are about customer relationship. Well, Maury….. THAT WAS A LIE! In my lifetime, I have never been in a “professional” setting that was this toxic. From the District Managers down to the fellow coworkers. Please do not feed into the line that they will tell you that there’s room to improve, that again is a lie! This last year alone not only did they cut all incentives, but they also added more workload. As a CEB (pretty much a super teller) we were expected to, make a transaction with the customer, whilst engaging in conversation to discover needs, and once in their financial life, while processing that transaction, whether it’s a deposit or a withdrawal, you need to make time to look into their profile and literally be nosy, look into their transactions and see where they spend their money and casually bring up conversation from that whether it be credit card payments, insurance mortgage, etc. then we also had to complete that transaction and if available sit them down with a banker and if not, then you take that application. Sounds easy right? Well, not if the customers are already in a hurry does not want to open up about their private life in front of other people around them. You have a line of customers who are impatient by the way waiting for you to finish a simple transaction and listening to everything you’re saying to this customer, oh and you better not even make a mistake when making that transaction because if you’re off, even a penny, you will definitely be corrected. Aside from that we do have to make phone calls, balance our cash drawers, answer the phones, been pretty much run the branch all at the same time. Did I mention that all incentives for CEB were taken away? Yep! You have triple the work now, with no bonus to look forward to. The loan officers get an incentive? Yes! Does your manager get an incentive? Yes! Do you? No! Let’s talk about the lack of professionalism, many of times I try to address my needs and wants with management and upper management, was told a few times that I would have a one-on-one meeting with them, but that never happened. what did happen was my fellow coworkers came to me letting me know that Those individuals went to them to ask them about what I wanted, instead of asking me! There’s absolutely no cost-of-living raises. Management for the most part is very cool as to what they are doing themselves making it hard for them to coach you. at Huntington they love to send you off to the next person and I blame that to lack of knowledge and training. The amount of mental strain that this job has brought upon me, and my fellow coworkers is incredible! And my time there, I realize my mental health was more important than that job, and slowly notice how it was physically and emotionally draining me. Horrible atmosphere. I consider myself a very optimistic and cheerful person, trust me, I tried my hardest to not let this place get to me. But I couldn’t take it any longer. Your value and your worth people! The reason why this company gets away with doing this, so many of their employees is because we allow it. They use scare tactics to convince you that you’re not gonna find anything better, yes you will!

Pros

Health Insurance is really good for diabetics. PTO is generous, but you can't use it when you want. Some branches are great while others make you want to quit immediately. Make sure you are interviewing at one of the good ones if you want to be part of the company. Coworkers 60% awesome! The others are so bad they need to be fired.

Cons

Recent changes keep getting worse and more frequent. Use of PTO was greatly slashed and means fighting with coworkers for time off. Management cares more about sales than the customers and the employees combined. It's getting giving servitude not a place to realistically grow. Most people have to apply for internal promotions 3-5x before getting it. They make you do all the work for those roles unpaid first, though. So if you want to overwork yourself with twice as much work to move ahead - this is a great place for you. Get ready to call the same customers every week for product pushing.
