Pros
Few talented people are still employed by HLC and they are joy to meet. Compensation was very competitive but negative experiences outweigh it.
Cons
Executives and the willing cadre of managers are destroying any hope for competent people to sustain productive work. Total lack of true market-driven performance assessments, intimidation, demeaning comments made in group setting are injurious and hostile and unfortunately dominate the culture. Professionals who made a mistake and joined the company did it in part because HLC pays more than average so it is tempting but the price becomes too high very fast and if you have any decency and self respect you will find yourself running from the place. There is no balance between work and life at corporate office or in the corporate-owned centers. (I did not work for franchised centers so this comment in no way reflects those locations.) Number of Centers reduced due to a combination of tough economy and the lack of trust between the corporate and franchisees. Any true change is not possible because of lack of trust. The changes are necessary in any company because of the competitive environment every company has to navigate, but the most talented individuals left the company already.
