Pros
Training and coaching staff are so supporting. They are the most genuine and want you to succeed! Getting to work with people you like. That's why people stay. The satisfaction of all of the stars aligning so that the program has actually worked and inspired a student so that you don't have to answer the questions of disappointed parents. The titles sound fancy; it's like "Whose Line Is It Anyway?", except the titles are made up and only money matters. There is always potential for growth. However, that's because people are quitting left and right (see below)!
Cons
Low moral standards of company, vague mission, tyrant leadership. HLC's mission is to "give every child the best education possible" but what it should be is "to make parents think that you are giving their child the best education possible with though use of manipulation, business coaches, and basic acting and improv training." The mission is vague, "best" is not easily quantifiable and is merely an opinion and thus means nothing; what institution wouldn't want to give students the best education? However, I have decided to provide you with what best means to HLC based on my experience. It means underpaying educators $10-15/hour when they can tutor privately for at least 3 times that wage; it means over-promising and under-delivering to desperate parents; it means manipulating families without money to commit to programs of superfluous length when they don't have the money; it means out of date curriculum apropos of nothing to the modern age (unless of course you'd like your child to read about the up-and-coming CD ROM disc and Walkman device that are set to come out, wait... about 15 years ago). Let's get real, Huntington methods are not proven. Huntington is a business model, a theory. HLC is the Anna Wintour of tutoring facilities, she tells you one day you're in because you're making money, but the next day you're out if you're in the red. Success of the students is mistakenly quantified by the amount of money your center makes. (Re: Yearly Convention, where profits and large payments are rewarded for hours and children are spoken about for say...5 minutes.) Be prepared to leave corporate training delirious and brainwashed; re: Zoolander after Mugatu got to him. Like Zoolander, HLC will only end with you wandering the streets asking yourself in vain, "who am I?". My advice to you is this, you want to help kids and make a difference: become an educator- go to school and actually study phonics of your desired specialty so you learn proven methods and are qualified, become a social worker or psychologist, etc.- so you can help families understand why students are having issues in school, or go directly to the source and become a DOE administrator or a lawyer that advocates for a better education system. Don't just turn away from HLC, don't walk either, run. If you have a heart and soul with a desire to keep it, by all means run because Huntington will gladly hand you yours on a silver platter by the time you leave. Avoid the disappointment, and save your mental health!! This company was founded on questionable morals and the operations team is continuing the legacy; as we know without a solid foundation one is destined to crumble (thanks for the analogy HLC!).
