Pros
- I like the on-site haircuts. Saves time and a real perk for everyone. - On site diner is nice, but it's always the same. Many prefer to leave and go out to lunch though. - They try hard to make you feel welcome.
Cons
- I have 2 feet of desk space and share a pod with 5 people, we are packed in our desks and most have to stand because a chair will not fit in the space. When the guy next to you gets sick, so will you. You don't get sick time either. - Amateur Hour is all day long with everyone thinking they are experts at what they do, Endless E-mails from those experts are a waste of time and often only cover up their lack of knowledge. - Health Benefits are pretty expensive, Hyland funds their own health care and you only get one plan to choose from, A high deductible HSA plan. - Nepotism is pretty bad, like most reviews here. I can throw a ball and bounce it off 5 people. 3 of them will be related and 2 of them will be managers or team leads. Family takes care of family at Raise and Bonus time. Even if you are in another department you will still be taken care of. - Boys club, You are either in our your toast. they choose you! - Be prepared to be micro-managed, This just started this year and is across all departments. Manager's have stepped aside and allowed team leads to manage the departments. Managers want results from team leads and the team leads pester the employees hourly for updates and update you on what you are doing wrong. - Everyone blames everyone else. 90% of my meetings are playing high school blame game and just follow ups to the last 4 meetings of the same topic. . - Hyland is on the very edge of age discrimination, a lot of people see it and the older work force feels it. loyalty and seniority have no impact at Hyland. They hire younger employees and Hyland thinks they will respect younger managers and team leads. Older employees are passed up for promotions even with a lot of time at Hyland. Many employees started to ask questions and are no longer employed. - The squeaky wheel gets all the attention. Terms like "Safe Spaces" and others are coddled by managers. - Bonus program... Not happening unless you are related to a manager or best friend of a manager. Bonuses are supposed to be passed out by VP's, but Managers are the one's who take care of it. And no data is collected or reviewed on who always gets the bonuses every year. - Friends and Family plans are exempt from the rules in the employee handbook. Others are required and watched to follow the employee handbook at all times. - Hyland's core values have lost all meaning and ignored in the HR department. - The Human Resources department just plans party's and create propaganda for the company. No real Human resources work goes on in that department. They do nothing for the employee when needed. - No work / life balance. Hyland used to care about your personal life. Not anymore. unless you are related to a manager or a team lead. - Raises are an insult at the end of the year. and the figure they give you includes "If" you work overtime. But no figure on "without overtime" - Almost no chance of a promotion or career advancement. There seems to be a trend of outside hiring to fill upper positions. - Within the last 9 months the brightest and most valued talent left or have been fired. - Stay away from Tech Support , QA and IS. These departments are understaffed and worked to death. None of these departments make profit for the company and VP's make it pretty clear that everyone is replicable for a cheaper rate so they can make budget.
