Pros

Excellent company, good benefits, good opportunities for advancement, good co-workers.

Cons

Work life balance was poor at times and raises can be puny. Sometimes we had to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Plus there were times we had to take classes on top of that. Ones experience will depend on the division they work for, the department they work for, the projects they work on, and who they work for. The company has good values on paper, but some of the managers (includes VP's) do not always adhere to that. A few of the managers would treat people disrespectfully and poorly, managing by threats, putting them down with snarky insults in front of their peers, or throwing their own people under the bus. This pertains to Naperville and Rolling Meadows. One of the managers had all but one of his staff taken away and now does special projects out of his home. That was a good move by the company.

I agree that an employee's experience will, in some cases, depend on the department they work for, but it's my clear expectation that all employees be treated with the same level of respect. That's why our IAT Values are in place. From what you describe, it is obvious that there was a shortcoming in fulfilling that promise. To me, our Values are more than just a standard, they serve as the guiding principles of our company and the core of everything we do. Our managers are fully aware that I do not condone the behaviors described, and I do my best to remind our managers of that as often as I can. Based on your feedback, it appears some form of action was taken to rectify the situation. Again, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. And thank you for affirming that we're on the right track. There is always room for improvement, and your feedback helps hold IAT accountable on that journey. I also want to thank you for your many years of service at IAT. Pros

Extremely generous 401k match, great amount of PTO (even as a new employee), College Loan Payment Assistance (Yes, you read that right! It's unique and amazing). Days are busy with engaging and interesting work but hours are typically fairly regular, leaving sufficient time and personal capacity to fully enjoy my life outside of work - great balance which is one of the things I enjoy most about working at IAT! Most of claims is now on one amazing claim system - state of the art! Fantastic progress vs. just a few years ago when IAT claims was working in numerous outdated, difficult systems.

Cons

Small company which can feel a bit limiting in terms of career path. However, IAT really leverages every opportunity to help employees have their desired careers, switch lines of business, etc. Small down side relative to the many advantages of working for IAT.
