Pros

The people are generally really nice and there are a lot of opportunities to learn about interesting industries and policy problems. It is, in some ways, a nice way to start a career - be it at the Research Assistant or Analyst Level.

Cons

Raises are tiny. Most importantly, I never felt that - even for a second - the quality of my performance had any bearing on my raise. That was the biggest factor in my eventual departure. The raises for junior-level staff were ultimately decided by people who had no direct visibility into my work, and I saw no signs that they recognized it. My immediate managers were both outstanding, but ultimately were not able to fight for me.

Pros

People, Mission, Culture, Technology, Remote. You work on projects and technologies that actually impact and improves the day to day lives of people around you, the community and the Country

Cons

Pay, No much room for upward mobility. If you are a high performer, you'll struggle as the structure rewards years spent in the company vs level of expertise or experience.
