Pros
I’ve covered the tech industry. I’ve worked as a contractor or employee at Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Real Networks. I’ve spent the last four months contracting at Inrix. I have to say that it is a really great experience. The culture is outstanding. I worked in data visualizations in a design integrator/developer type of role. The people are smart, easy to get along with, and the office politics is almost non-existent. I have a couple months left before I move on to my next job but I would recommend this company to anyone that would listen. The UX department is very talented and much better at understanding issues than most places that I worked.
Cons
The tech support policies need to be revisited. I was working in a Unix based environment but I still needed some design tools. I'm fine with Windows but the development environment is a nightmare with Meteor/Node. I had to buy a Mac with my own money until a contract agency could dig up approval to get me a Mac. I understand limiting tech expenditures but it would save Inrix money if employees got the right tools for the job.
