Pros
This is a fantastic place to start work and learn the trade of environmental services (at the Richland office). Hanford presents a variety of interesting challenges from politics and science to numerical modeling and research. Lots of room to grow too. Benefits are also excellent.
Cons
The nature of the contract is constrictive to growth. I am effectively paid less than when I was first hired as my rent has increased faster than my wages, staying in the same apartment the entire time (and it's not the absolute best apartment, let me tell you). Compensation is a big sore point and has been for myself and others that I've talked to in the office. I am financially smart enough that I'm not running into problems yet, but that's more thanks to my management skills and choice of lifestyle than anything else.
