Pros
Very stable company run by the Ingram family, who treat their employees well, take excellent care of their facilities and are great philanthropists. Very well funded, which made it possible to find the best solutions to almost any problem. Opportunities to give back to the community through volunteerism and matching contribution programs. I always appreciated the Ingram's commitment to charitable giving and using company time and resource to make the world a better place.
Cons
Probably not the best place to work if you want to advance your management career, unless you don't mind putting 15+ years in to do so. Of course if you're a woman or a person of color, probably double that, if not disregard the possibility of advancement altogether. The politics at the staff and middle management level are draconian, and senior management is unable/unwilling to recognize the problem. Being different in any way (thoughts, values, appearance) is not generally appreciated and is most certainly not rewarded. These politics made it possible for a significant portion of the people I worked with to not be all that good at their jobs, safe from termination because they were part of the "in" crowd.
