Pros

Classes will better your knowledge/practice of emergent care. Program is well developed to prepare you to work independently/safely. 5 month Orientation. Hospital will pay for additional certifications (CEN, CCRN, etc.). Clinical ladder appears promising with pay increases at each (RN I - RN V) Opportunity for growth within the ED and hospital. Will pay on prior students loans with no obligation on your part. 5k/year tuition reimbursement (employment commitment).

Cons

You will work every shift before orientation completion. No guarantee of preferred shift. Will have as many as a dozen preceptors. Scheduling nightmare. Low paying towards additional certifications. BSN Magnet requirement. "Self Scheduling" is a scam; Of the 18 shifts you schedule yourself/6weeks, 6 must be on a weekend, 3 Mondays, and 3 Fridays.

Pros

Safe care, safe ratios, good coworkers, some good managers

Cons

Pay and benefits aren't competitive even though they claim to market adjust. Like other hospital systems the upper management doesn't really care about employee satisfaction and policies for staff are getting worse, incentives for working short shifts have declined significantly. I notice micromanaging. I feel but manager and supervisors are good, but more and more power is taken from them it seems.
