Pros

The majority of the other nurses were great. Helpful and willing to teach a new grad. Lots of support staff - at other hospitals it is typical for it to just be the L&D nurse with the physician at a delivery. Here you have a nurse for the baby and a nursing assistant.

Cons

The pay is terrible, hardly livable. The Manager while I worked there (I believe she is no longer there, so this may be irrelevant) was absolutely awful. She preached patient safety but scolded a new grad new when she raised concerns about an unsafe assignment. I witnessed her publicly degrate one specific nurse multiple times. When I put in my 2 week notice, she threatened me saying she wouldn't give new employers a good recommendation of me because I didn't give her 6 shifts of notice, even though I gave 2 calendar weeks which was the policy.

Pros

Safe care, safe ratios, good coworkers, some good managers

Cons

Pay and benefits aren't competitive even though they claim to market adjust. Like other hospital systems the upper management doesn't really care about employee satisfaction and policies for staff are getting worse, incentives for working short shifts have declined significantly. I notice micromanaging. I feel but manager and supervisors are good, but more and more power is taken from them it seems.
