I started my career at Inovalon in a position where I had a team I felt a part of, a great manager, and confidence that I was making an impact and doing my job well. During the time I was there, I was a high performer, high potential, received great performance reviews, and several company awards. A year ago, I decided I wanted to broaden my experience and move into a new role. There were a lot of changes on my current team: a lot of turnover, layoffs, and low morale. I thought moving into a new role would be a good move for me; however, it also turned out to be a mistake.
In my new position, I had a manager that constantly talked down to me and portrayed favoritism. I would let her know that I needed to take my sick child to the doctors and would receive no response from her. I was easily working 50-60 hours per week and frequently working until 1-2 AM. My self confidence was destroyed, I did not feel a part of a team and no longer felt I was making an impact. I was not trained AT ALL in my new role as no one took the time, it was very difficult to learn and no one was consistent with processes and procedures.
My position was eliminated and I was laid off which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. But, I think that Inovalon should do a better job to not have to lay off their high performers and high potential employees. If a high performer's position is to be eliminated, take the time and find another position for them in the company. High performers and high potential are trainable; they will learn any job quickly and effectively if given the time and good leaders.
If you are in between jobs or have multiple offers, maybe my experience working at Inovalon will help you make the decision that is best for you.
