Pros
Good pay, good way to get clearance, good relationships with fellow officers. I wish there more positive things to say but that's not the case here. I've only stayed this long to provide for my family.
Cons
The rules don't apply to management and supervisors. If you make it to a supervisory position they will do everything in their power to protect you however if you remain an officer you will be held to a different standard and they don't like you they will make your schedule and post terrible. If they don't want you around they will get you in enough little things until "legal" gives them the ok to fire you. If it gets to that point they will coerce the person into resigning by telling them they'll never be able to get a clearance again, won't be able to have a reference and won't be able to get unemployment. Multiple supervisors have bragged about being able to 'get rid of anyone they don't want" and that the the "Con " has ways of getting rid of whoever they want. It is fitting that all employees refer to their employer as the "Con" . The union is useless and has backed the company in every car I've seen brought up. They have a"zero" tolerance policy on many things but that only applies to officers evidently. If you just want a good check and to get clearance this is for you. If you want a balance between family and work or a consistent schedule don't bother. If you complain about your schedule they'll make it even worse until they break you. If you don't come in when they need you for overtime they'll make your schedule worse. You are a body to fill a post and that's it. I would only recommend this job if you want a good check need to get a clearance and don't have a family. Almost everyone that I've seen come onto this job in the past 10+ years has started looking for a new job within a few months at most, one officer walked off and quit after an hour on post, many have left in less than a week. Get your clearance and move onto a less abusive job.
